COVID-19 Update (March 15)

The nanoFAB remains open and operating as per usual, so long as regular University operations continue. However, given recent announcements regarding suspension of live classes at the UA and closures of K-12/daycares, we ask for your patience as we navigate the cumulative affect on our operations and staff.

With growing concerns around COVID-19, we want to provide you with updates regarding our response. The nanoFAB has always taken pride in having strong procedures and policies in place providing for a safe and effective work environment. However, at this time we have implemented additional measures to ensure the health of our community members, outlined on our COVID-19 Response, confluence page. Different areas of the nanoFAB have different procedures, please review the COVID-19 Response in detail. Highlights include;

1. If you are feeling unwell, do not enter the nanoFAB. Stay at home until you are well.
2. Social distancing: as far as possible, maintain a distance of ≥2 m between people, and avoid all physical contact.
3. We now provide and recommend the use of gloves for all common used characterization equipment outside of the clean room.
4. Disinfectant wipes will be available in the common computer area. We encourage everyone to wipe down keyboards before and after use.
5. Increased cleaning on high touch areas where people are not wearing gloves.

As common practice regardless of work environment you are also reminded to:
1. Wash your hands with soap and water often, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer; in either case, disinfect for at least 20 s.
2. Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
3. Use a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw it in a garbage bin lined with a plastic bag.
4. If you don’t have a tissue, sneeze or cough into your sleeve.
5. Wash your hands immediately after coughing and/or sneezing.

This situation is evolving quickly and is a very unprecedented scenario for everyone. We will continue to provide updates and ask for your patience.
