The nanoFAB is pleased to present the following career opportunities from U of C/NINT
The Barclay lab at the University of Calgary and the National Institute for Nanotechnology has several opportunities (PDF and graduate researchers) for individuals searching for challenging projects at the interface of optics, nanoscience, and quantum engineering. If you’re interested in studying nanoscale optical devices for experiments in quantum optics and optomechanics (projects involve theory, nanofabrication, and experiment), please see below and barclaylab.ucalgary.ca for more information, and feel free to contact Prof. Paul Barclay at email@example.com.
Postdoc opportunities (available immediately)
The lab is searching for a post-doctoral scholar to develop (fabricate and demonstrate) nanophotonics devices for quantum optomechanics. This position involves two potential projects: (1) advancing nano-optomechanical sensing of magnetic spins (recently reported in Nature Nanotechnology) towards the quantum domain, and (2) creating optomechanical devices from diamond (see work in Phys. Rev. X, Optica and Nano Letters) that can couple diamond electron spins (e.g. NV and SiV centres) with nanomechanical resonators, and realize new quantum information processing technologies. Expertise in nanofabrication is highly desirable, but all applicants with a strong research background will be considered. Both longer term (2-3y) and shorter term (1 y) positions are available immediately.quantum_nano_positions
